THE home of friendly cricket

Leicester Mossdale are a cricket club formed in 1973. We do not play in a league but we play competitive friendly cricket throughout Leicestershire and a number of surrounding counties of both Saturdays and Sundays. We also play a number of mid week friendly evening matches during the season and go away on tour twice a year in May and September.

We are of mixed ages and abilities, from 17 to 70 and enjoy the crack of the friendly game and a run out at the weekend to get away from the wife and have a few beers!

That’s not to say that WAGS are not welcome, that’s the spirit of Mossdale, and of course we always need somebody to wash up after tea!

We usually have a full fixture card for both Saturdays and Sundays from April through to the end of September but there may be an odd day here and there where a fixture can be slotted in, especially for touring sides.

Our home ground is the Forest Park Ground, Kings Drive, Leicester Forest East where we have played for over 30 years.

How to find us

To get to our ground, head out of Leicester on the A47 towards Hinckley, about 200 or 300 yards after you go over the M1 there is a set of pedestrian lights, opposite an off licence, turn left just after these lights. This is Kings Drive, it is signposted Parish Ground.

Follow the road round for about 150 yards, left bend then right bend, another 200 yards or so and you'll see the road carry straight on at the apex of another right hand bend, you should see the ground as you approach the bend.

I don't know the exact post code, but for sat navers try LE3 3JB, that should get you close!

Our 'home' pub for apres match socialising is the The Bulls Head, a little way down the A47 past the Desford crossroads. Back onto the A47, left turn as if you were going to Hinckley, and carry on for 2 miles to the ESSO garage, straight through the lights, and the pub is a few hundred yards down on the left.

And now I would like you all to kneel and join me in the club prayer.

Our Father, who bats in heaven,
Hallowed be thy game.
Thy centuries come,
Thy teas be done,
In the pavilion as it is in heaven,
Give us this day our 10 wicket win,
And forgive us our dropped catches,
As bowlers forgive those who drop catches off them,
Lead us not into suicidal run outs,
But deliver us a wide long hop,
For thine is the length, the line and the wicket,
For ever and ever.

Amen.
