Welcome to the Mossdale CC website. The purpose of the website is to provide club members and other cricket teams with information about our club, and we would welcome any constructive suggestions on how to improve and add to the content of the site, new pages or features to generally enhance the visitors experience of surfing the web with Mossdale.

THE home of friendly cricket

Leicester Mossdale are a friendlies only cricket club, formed out of an evening league side back in the early 70's, we are of mixed ages and abilities, from 17 to 70, we have a couple of league players who enjoy the crack of the friendly game and a number of 'hard core' friendly players who just want a run out at the weekend to get away from the wife and have a few beers!

That’s not to say that WAGS are not welcome, that’s the spirit of Mossdale, and of course we always need somebody the wash up after tea!

Whatever side we put out we can generally make a good game of it because of the variety of skills and shall we say 'playing styles'. We play most of our games in the Leicestershire area, but often venture out to surrounding counties.

We usually have a full fixture card for both Saturdays and Sundays from April through to September as there is a very healthy friendly circuit in the county, but there may be an odd day here and there where a fixture can be slotted in, especially for touring sides. We can sometimes get a Sunday Seconds out too.

Our fixtures secretary also looks after the East Midlands Pool, so if you are looking for a game and we can't accommodate you, Terry ‘The Duke’ Newton will probably be able to find a game, drop us a line from the contacts page and we'll pass your details on to him.

HOW TO FIND US

Our home ground is located about 3 miles south-west ish from the city centre. Forest Park East is a parish recreation ground on Kings Drive. Head out of Leicester on the A47 towards Hinckley, about 200 or 300 yards after you go over the M1 there is a set of pedestrian lights, opposite an off licence, turn left just after these lights. This is Kings Drive, it is signposted Parish Ground.

Follow the road round for about 150 yards, left bend then right bend, another 200 yards or so and you'll see the road carry straight on at the apex of another right hand bend, you should see the ground as you approach the bend.

I don't know the exact post code, but for sat navers try LE3 3JB, that should get you close!

Unfortunately the parish council won’t allow alcohol at the ground so we drink at The White Horse in Desford, our club sponsors.

Back onto the A47, left turn as if you were going to Hinckley, and carry on for 2 miles until you see the ESSO garage, take the right hand filter at the lights and the pub is a couple of hundred yards down on the left.

Terry, Di and the gang are excellent hosts, and their restaurant has a superb reputation! It well worth a visit but they are always busy so book early.

And now I would like you all to kneel and join me in the club prayer.

Our Father, who bats in heaven,
Hallowed be thy game.
Thy centuries come,
Thy teas be done,
In the pavilion as it is in heaven,
Give us this day our 10 wicket win,
And forgive us our dropped catches,
As bowlers forgive those who drop catches off them,
Lead us not into suicidal run outs,
But deliver us a wide long hop,
For thine is the length, the line and the wicket,
For ever and ever.

Amen.
