Ground Maintenance
Well, the weather has held off just enough for us to get the wicket sorted, we are about a week behind ideally, but after a lot of hard work and commitment we have managed to prepare a decent early season wicket, but we'll have to wait and see how it plays! It's green, and a tadge soft, but it's playable, unlike Hunninghams ground, they called off on Monday, a week before the first Saturday fixture, their ground was so wet they couldn't get any equipment on it without causing damage, so consider yourselves lucky to be playing at all so early in the season. After the winter we have had with the rain and snow it has taken a lot of hard work to get the game on.
I'm glad to say the new mower works a treat, well worth the investment. Dead easy to use and wruns well, especially when you take the brake off Smig!!
Working groups will be formed to ease the load in the coming weeks and these will continue throughout the season.
If you don't do any work on the ground you will be expected to prepare more teas, and generally help with match day preparations.
