News and general information will appear on this page when available.
The averages for the 2009 season can be viewed on our Play Cricket web page, follow the link on the links page or fixtures page of this website. There are one or two very, very minor discrepancies between the play cricket stats and our own stats, but nothing that will alter the overall figures at all, so those of you who always complain about the accuracy of the averages can moan to your hearts content, it will fall on deaf ears because I know that the stats are basically right.
PRESENTATION NIGHT
This years event went off very well and I think everybody who attended enjoyed themselves. Food was once again excellent, thanks to Terry and Di for that, pity we won't be using their facilities in the future. After the awards Nigel whipped out his organ and we had a bit of a sing song, led, again, by Amble who gave us the obligatory 'American Pie'. Yoghurt and Angry Old Man tried to do a couple of Beatles numbers, fortunately Yoghurt's taxi arrived just in time to spare us all!
Thanks to all who attended, photos of the evening will appear here when Papi gets a disk sorted for me. For the record, this years winners are;
Batting: James (Pogo) Smith - 2,066 runs, 2nd or maybe even third year in a row over 2,000.
Bowling: Gav (Ding Dong) Smith - 95 wickets, beating The Dukes previous record of 77.
Fielding: Dan (28 ball 50) Phillips - Excellent performance in the field, chased everything, even a few cars!
Most Improved: Gav (Ding Dong) Smith - Mainly for his bowling, but also general fielding efforts too.
Clubman: Chris (Boz) Fellows - Mainly for getting consistently good wickets prepared, despite the weather and equipment problems.
All Rounder: Richard (Swiss, Booooooooooo) Hadley - Took some wickets, scored some runs, took a few catches.
Evelyn Newton Memorial Trophy: Gav (Ding Dong) Smith - Best bowling performances on a match day.
Wooden Spoon: Dave (Amble) Henry - On tour, dragging out a 20 minute drive to 2 & 1/2 hours, on the M25.
Special Services: Lou Henry - Special efforts made helping out with ground equipment, ground maintenance and being there when needed.
Terry, our previous sponsor and host for the evening donated 2 new trophies this year for special efforts / performances throughout the season, recipients were Pogo and Boz.
Congratulations to all the trophy winners.
