Here are a few snippets of information about our players, some of it might even be true!

Player:
Nick Smith (Retired for a couple of months, now playing again)
a.k.a: Smiggy, Doom and Gloom, Snakehips and apparently Linford (don’t know why!)
Age: Early 50’s.
Batting: RHB, adept at scoring fewer runs than overs faced.
Bowling: Leg break, under used, once described as a spin bowler he corrected this by saying he was ‘just a slow bowler, there’s no spin’.
Preferred Fielding Position: Extra cover or cover point. More often found in the slips though, catches everything if he’s got his right glasses on.
Favourite Film: Fart Hammer (A club joke).
Favourite Music: Van Morrison and Ambles rendition of American Pie.
Favourite Food: Pasta and Tracey’s Sunday dinners.
Would Like To Meet & Why: Amble on a cold wet Saturday afternoon 10 mile ramble.
Ed: A stalwart (?) of the club, has been the backbone of Mossdale for more years than he would care to remember probably. Would do anything for the club and is the major contributor to the preparation of the wickets. Seems to know virtually everybody who has anything to do with sport in the county. A great bloke and a true asset to Mossdale, mind you, wouldn’t want to get too close to him when he’s got a bit of gas brewing up.

Player:
Nigel Loxley.
a.k.a: Friend, Spidey, Niggle.
Age: Unknown, but admits to being in his 40's.
Batting: RHB, not one for overuse of the front foot and has his own unique defensive prod, rarely seen in any cricketing text book, but once he's 'in' watch out for that flashing blade!
Bowling: That's the stuff he faces when keeping wicket, but has been known to turn his arm over on tour, best figures 1o 1r 1w.
Preferred Fielding Position: Keeper, every other position requires you to run after the ball and throw it, not his bag really.
Favourite Film: Not sure, will have to get back to you on that one.
Favourite Music: You hum it, I'll play it.
Favourite Food: Jam.
Would like to meet, & Why: Dunno' really, I'll let you know next week.
Ed: A quiet bloke, but give him a few beers and put him in the spiderman suit and he's away, never seen such a transformation.

Player:
Robin Sinclair
a.k.a: Seventh Earl, Robbo, Skip, asti boy.
Age: 50 +
Batting: RHB, when he can get the ball off the square that is. Has a tendency to play and miss, then the red mist
descends and he thinks he is KP, at which point he utters those famous word 'Oh Shit' and wanders back to the pavilion
for a smoke.
Bowling: DOH! Robbo doesn't bowl anymore, we won't let him, mainly because we want to be in the pub before it gets dark.
Preferred Fielding Position: Mixing the drinks at the 20 overs break.
Favourite Film: Unknown, he doesn't get out a lot, apart from when he's batting.
Favourite Music: Joni Mitchell, Neil Young or anything from that era and RADIOHEAD, why he put that in capitals I'll never know.
Favourite Food: Doritos, or anything else indian (?)
Would Like To Meet & Why: Would not disclose this, obviously has a guilty secret, we won't take this any further.
Ed: I like Robbo, but simple things please me.

Player:
Paul Coppin
a.k.a: Coppo, Mary, Chairman, Devon Lock, Chemo.
Age:
50
Batting: LHB, if you've no chance of winning the game and need to bat out for the draw, Coppo's your man. Always plays for his average, regardless of what's best for the team.
Bowling: Left arm over, thinks he's got pace, but basically a tweaker, his bouncer is precisely that, it bounces all the way down the wicket, four bounces is his record so far, he could probably skip a cricket ball across water.
Preferred Fielding Position: Anywhere, and to give him credit he does take some pretty good catches, close and in the deep.
Favourite Film: Jaws, The Full Monty, obviously has a thing about taking his clothes off in public.
Favourite Music: REM and Amy Winehouse, never mind.
Favourite Food: Steak and chips.
Would Like To Meet & Why: Sir Ian Botham, one of world crickets great all rounders and he's a great fund raiser for
leukaemia
research.
Ed: Another great servant to the club, always gets involved, to the point of obsession, ends up taking charge whenever he can, will always try to be available to play, except of course when he watches the Tigers with his real mates.

Player:
John Lunn
a.k.a: Lunny
Age:
50
Batting: RHB, middle order specialist, usually good for a few runs until his knees give way.
Bowling: Right arm over, didn't usually bowl, but had a few overs last season and took a few good wickets.
Preferred Fielding Position: 12th Man.
Favourite Film: Saw 1, 2, 3 and 4. Get out a bit more John, please.
Favourite Music: Rock music, Thunder..................
Favourite Food: Steak.Would Like To Meet & Why: Alex Ferguson, no reasons given.Ed: Had a few 45's and must be close to his first half century for Mossdale, won most improved player for 2007, deserved it. Not playing this year, dodgy knees apparently.

Player:
Richard Lavocah.
a.k.a: Papi, Papster, Asti boy, La Vidalocah.
Age:
53
Batting: RHB, tends to go in lower down the order, but has posted some good knocks and according to some should be promoted, not very good at running between the wickets though, tends to stand his ground until the ball is a few feet away from the boundary, then goes for the single.
Bowling: Right arm round, allegedly slow spin.
Preferred Fielding Position: Anywhere where the ball will not go between his legs for 4 runs, basically it would be better if he feigned injury after he had finished bowling, he could leave the field and that would save 20 or so runs every game!
Favourite Film: Scar Face, apparently when in the showers he is known to invite people to 'Say hello to my little friend'.
Favourite Music: Stevie Wonder.
Favourite Food: Anything hot and spicy. Don’t let him near the Tabasco sauce.
Would Like To Meet & Why: Stevie Wonder, all time great.
Ed: Can't take anything away from his bowling, you don't get 60 or 70 wickets a season without doing something right. A new word has recently entered the cricketing dictionary though, doing a 'Papi' is when a fielder lets the ball go through his legs, fame at last!

Player:
Dave Henry.
a.k.a: Amble, Bro, Hunny Boy.
Age: 40 +
Batting: RHB, has been known to knock up some good scores, crap at running though.
Bowling: Right arm over, slow stump to stump apparently.
Preferred Fielding Position: Keeper, or anywhere you don't have to run, or bend over, or dive, or bend your knees, or exert yourself or...............
Favourite Film: Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Favourite Music: Reggie.
Favourite Food: Indian.
Would Like To Meet & Why: Steven Hawkins, to explain quantum physics, and how to spell his surname.
Ed: A club character, used to be a bit of a drinker, but age has caught up with him now, tends to stick to the weaker beers bless him. If there is one person you would want to bat with it's Amble, no quick singles here, always time to relax and watch the game unfold.

Player: Chris Fellows.
a.k.a: Boz, Big Fella, Sick Note.
Age: Not yet 50.
Batting: RHB, has been known to hit a few runs but is prone to leaving the gate open. Generally bats 10 or 11, but has batted at nearly every position, has opened a few times too, much to the regret of the skipper of the day.
Bowling: Right arm over, indeterminate pace, opening bowler until the knees give way.
Preferred Fielding Position: Slips and covers, can be put in any fielding position though, can’t field but can be put in any position.
Favourite Film: Anything with a good story.
Favourite Music: Blues.
Favourite Food: Indian, Thai and most anything that tastes good.
Would Like To Meet & Why: Eric Clapton because he’s the best there is, Ian Botham, which cricketer wouldn’t want to meet him, and God, just to point out a few of his mistakes.
Ed: Probably the best bloke in the club, very underrated, never gets the credit for all the stuff he does for the club, who wrote this?
